Dr. Sajad Afshari is an Assistant Professor of Aviation at Mount Royal University and a registered Professional Engineer specializing in aviation management, aerospace engineering, artificial intelligence, and intelligent aviation systems. His interdisciplinary work connects engineering, aviation operations, and data-driven decision-making to improve the safety, reliability, efficiency, and strategic performance of complex aviation and aerospace systems.
His research spans aviation safety and reliability, airline and airport operations, aviation strategic management, aircraft maintenance and MRO, predictive maintenance, autonomous and robotic aerospace systems, control and estimation, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. He is particularly interested in applying AI, optimization, reliability engineering, and advanced computational methods to aviation operations, maintenance, safety, and decision-making.
Dr. Afshari received his doctoral training in Aerospace Engineering at Sharif University of Technology and the University of British Columbia and subsequently completed extensive postdoctoral and research experience at the University of Manitoba, working on applied aerospace projects in collaboration with industry and research partners.
His work bridges aviation management and aerospace engineering, with the broader goal of developing safer, more reliable, intelligent, and operationally effective aviation systems.
